Foundation Programmes
What is a Foundation Year?
A Foundation Year is an additional year at the beginning of a university degree designed to prepare students who are not yet ready to embark on full degree-level studies. It equips them with essential academic skills and improves their English language proficiency, while also helping them adapt to life in the UK. Throughout this important transitional period, students receive advice and guidance from academic staff, tutors, and support professionals with expertise in assisting international students. Upon successful completion of the Foundation Year, students are guaranteed a direct pathway to their chosen degree programme at the same university for the following academic year.
Which pathway should students study?
Students can choose from several relevant pathways that give them the opportunity to enrol in almost all undergraduate programmes offered by UK universities. These pathways apply to the following subject areas:
-
Applied Science
-
Art, Design and Media
-
Business and Law
-
Computing
-
Engineering
-
Humanities and Social Sciences
-
And many more
